Hello World! Hello Panda!
Available as a Download on the App Store
March 25, 2010 - WireBear,
the leader in smartphone application development for the iPhone and other smartphones, today
announced that Panda! is now available for the iPhone™ and iPod touch® devices and may be
downloaded on the App Store or by using iTunes®.
The Panda! program has been used as a way for members of the WireBear development team to
learn new programming techniques over the last 7 years. It has served as WireBear’s very
own version of the Hello World! program. The Panda! program first appeared as a Windows
application in 2003 and since has been written in several different programming languages
with slight variations in each, but the true heart and soul of the Panda! has remained pure.
The Panda! app allowed the WireBear development team to explore some of the iPhone functionality including:
- Sound
- Extended animation
- Interface orientation
- Custom touch events
- Accelerometer
“I can’t think of a more entertaining way to learn new functionality on the iPhone then by
creating the Panda! app”, said Chris Kent, Chief Technology Officer for WireBear. “In the end
it served as a valuable and cool learning experience for the whole WireBear team.”
Beginning today, the
Panda! iPhone App is available as a download on the App Store.
